Visa's crypto division has unveiled a new tool designed to enable artificial intelligence agents to make payments. Notably, on the same day, Tempo, a blockchain project backed by Stripe, officially launched with its own payment protocol for AI agents.

Visa's newly launched payment tool emphasizes that it allows for "programmatic card payments without the hassle of dealing with API keys." API keys can contain sensitive information, and if leaked by an AI agent, could pose significant security risks. This move is one of the latest standards aimed at simplifying the online payment process for AI agents amidst the current AI and stablecoin fervor.

Meanwhile, the Stripe-backed Tempo blockchain project has also been initiated. Tempo stated, "AI agents can already write code, coordinate services, retrieve data, and perform complex tasks on the internet. As these systems' capabilities continue to grow, so does their need for transactional functionality."
The Tempo project has also introduced its Machine Payments Protocol, co-developed with Stripe. The protocol is described as "a standardized way for programmatic, coordinated payments for AI agents and services."
