As the crypto industry accelerates its shift towards AI-driven operations, Crypto.com has become the latest company to be affected by restructuring. The layoffs primarily focus on positions that do not align with the company's new AI strategy. Marszalek noted that affected employees have been notified and provided with transitional support resources. Furthermore, he emphasized that companies failing to swiftly adopt AI will face the risk of falling behind, struggling to gain advantages in scale and operational efficiency. This marks the third round of layoffs for the exchange since 2022, following a 5% workforce reduction due to macroeconomic downturns and a further 20% cut in 2023 following the FTX collapse. Despite these adjustments, Crypto.com continues to maintain offices in locations such as Singapore, France, and the United States.
Marszalek stated, “We are joining the ranks of companies undergoing a full-scale AI transformation. Those that do not make the shift immediately will face failure, while those that move slowly will be left behind. Companies that combine top performers with the best AI tools will reach new heights.”
Meanwhile, payment company Block, under CEO Jack Dorsey's leadership, has cut nearly 40% of its workforce to achieve a more streamlined AI-driven structure. Although some employees were later rehired, the overall trend towards automation remains evident. Additionally, crypto data platform Messari also conducted layoffs during a leadership transition, indicating its restructuring goal to become an AI-centric organization.
