TRON DAO actively participated in Paraguay's Digital Assets and AML/CFT Forum, discussing crypto policy and regulatory frameworks in Latin America. Industry experts shared insights on blockchain technology and economic opportunities.

TRON DAO represented the blockchain industry at the Digital Assets and Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism Forum held in Asunción, Paraguay. The event took place from March 11 to 12, 2026, and was organized by the Digital Currency Governance Group.

The forum attracted over 60 participants, including representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank, central banks, and ministries of finance.

The focus of the forum was to discuss the establishment of a reasonable regulatory framework for digital assets in Latin America.

TRON DAO Contributes to Regulatory Discussions in Asunción

TRON DAO was represented by General Counsel John O. Hurston and community spokesperson Sam Elfarra, who participated in multiple panel discussions during the two-day event.

Their discussions covered regulatory approaches, blockchain fundamentals, and economic policy considerations.

Hurston participated in a panel titled “Global Regulatory Approaches and Perspectives,” moderated by the Paraguayan Fintech Association, with other panelists including Seth Hetherington from Ledger, Josh Townsend from DCGG, and Juan Garido from Tether. The panel discussed how various jurisdictions shape the regulatory framework for digital assets.

Topics of discussion included decentralized finance, consumer protection, and measures to mitigate financial crime. Panel members explored how regulators can balance innovation with effective risk management.

This session drew on regulatory experiences from various global regions, providing context for how emerging markets can approach blockchain regulation.

Hurston also participated in a panel discussion titled “Blockchain Technology Fundamentals,” moderated by Hugo Rodriguez from DCGG, sharing insights on the role of blockchain in the evolution of regulatory and financial environments. This segment helped policymakers better understand the practical workings of blockchain infrastructure.

Elfarra took part in a panel titled “Economic Opportunities and Strategic Considerations for Policymakers,” moderated by Berini Barduino. This session explored how digital assets can serve as a tool to expand financial service coverage, particularly for underserved populations. Policymakers and industry leaders also discussed how digital assets can influence broader policy developments.

Public-Private Partnerships Enhance Blockchain Transparency and Risk Management

Elfarra also participated in a panel titled “The Role of Public-Private Partnerships,” moderated by Hugo Rodriguez, which brought together regulators, compliance officers, and blockchain industry representatives from various regions.

The Paraguayan Financial Intelligence Unit SEPRELAD was one of the organizing participants. The forum provided a rare opportunity for direct communication between regulators and the industry.

Other panel members included Deborah Di Lullo from Tether, Ruben Smith-Vaughn from Ledger, and Mauricio Preto from Chainalysis. The panel discussed how collaboration between regulators and the private sector can strengthen risk mitigation efforts and address the broader challenges of illegal activities occurring on blockchain networks.
