This collaboration marks a significant move by MLB in managing the evolving prediction market.

Major League Baseball (MLB) recently announced it has entered into an "integrity protection" agreement with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Concurrently, MLB has also signed a cooperation agreement with prediction market platform Polymarket.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred stated, "These new agreements with Polymarket and the CFTC are crucial steps in actively managing the emerging and rapidly evolving landscape of prediction markets."

The baseball season is set to officially kick off on March 26th, with 22 teams competing across the United States. As of Thursday, Polymarket had already listed several contracts related to the league's spring training games.

It remains to be seen whether the agreement with the CFTC will effectively prevent potential lawsuits at the state level concerning sports betting. At the time of publication, Cointelegraph attempted to contact Polymarket regarding potential litigation arising from this agreement but had not yet received a response.
