Renowned Web3 gaming giant Animoca Brands has announced a strategic partnership with Ava Labs, the developer of the Layer-1 blockchain Avalanche, aimed at jointly promoting the adoption and application of the Avalanche network.
This collaboration will enable Animoca Brands to invest funds and provide strategic guidance to support projects built on the Avalanche blockchain. The initial focus for both parties will be on the entertainment sector, the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), and the promotion of digital identity solutions.
Ava Labs Chief Business Officer John Nahas stated that this partnership will strongly support Avalanche's plans to expand into the Asian and Middle Eastern markets, where activities in the digital asset space are continuously growing. He said, “We are very excited to collaborate and advance initiatives that improve user access and interoperability for applications on Avalanche.”
Omar Elassar, Head of Global Strategic Partnerships at Animoca Brands, added that while the integration of digital identity and RWAs will be the focus of the collaboration, the broader goal is to support the developer community on Avalanche and facilitate widespread adoption across the network.
This partnership comes as Animoca Brands plans to go public in the U.S. on Nasdaq this year through a reverse merger with the AI-focused publicly traded company Currenc Group. Previously, in September last year, it was reported that the Avalanche Foundation, a nonprofit organization behind the Avalanche cryptocurrency, was raising $1 billion to launch a digital asset treasury and accumulate projects.
It is noteworthy that although Web3 games and tokenized trading card games (TCGs) face challenges in their early development, the industry continues to explore its potential. Some observers believe that certain projects may have failed to attract users adequately because they do not provide genuinely engaging gaming experiences and are merely chasing market trends. However, there are also views that this may be a normal phenomenon in the development process of an emerging industry.
