Upbit to List Definitive EDGE: A Key Step into the South Korean Crypto Market

South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit, has announced that it will officially list the Definitive (EDGE) token on its platform on March 4, 2025, at 8:00 AM UTC. The trading pairs will include EDGE/KRW, EDGE/BTC, and EDGE/USDT. This move signifies the official entry of the Definitive blockchain project into South Korea, one of the world's most active crypto markets, and provides local users with a new channel to access decentralized data verification solutions.

As the leading exchange in the South Korean market with approximately 80% market share, Upbit's listing decisions have historically been regarded as a strong endorsement of project quality and compliance. According to the 2024 financial report data, its user base is vast, and new asset listings are typically accompanied by a significant surge in trading volume. The listing of EDGE not only demonstrates that its technical architecture has passed Upbit's stringent security audits and compliance reviews but is also seen as a key strategic move ahead of the anticipated update to South Korea's crypto regulatory framework in mid-2025.

The Definitive platform focuses on verifiable data integrity and decentralized identity management on the blockchain. Its network employs a hybrid consensus mechanism, combining Proof of Stake (PoS) with a verification protocol optimized for data authentication. The EDGE token plays multiple roles within this ecosystem, including paying verification fees, participating in network governance, and incentivizing node operation. Compared to projects like Chainlink and The Graph, Definitive is more focused on on-chain storage of high-trust scenarios such as legal documents and compliance credentials. It has already achieved over 2.3 million document timestamps and cryptographic proof generations and has been running stably since the mainnet launch at the end of 2023.

South Korea has one of the highest cryptocurrency penetration rates in the world. A 2024 survey showed that approximately one-tenth of the population participates in digital asset trading and is highly dependent on local exchanges. Upbit's introduction of Definitive not only expands the platform's technological ecosystem but also reflects the growing demand in the South Korean market for blockchain projects with practical application scenarios and regulatory compliance.
