The Compound platform is suspected of being targeted by a phishing attack, with users being redirected to counterfeit interfaces. Experts warn against wallet connection scams and call for the promotion of secure front-end tools to improve the overall protection level of the DeFi News ecosystem.
Recently, the cryptocurrency space has once again seen a front-end phishing attack, this time targeting the decentralized finance protocol Compound (COMP). According to information circulating on social media, some users, when visiting the official Compound website and clicking the application button, were redirected to a similar-looking page with an abnormal domain name. This page, named "Compoond," has only subtle differences from the official interface, making it easy to mislead users.
Such attacks typically steal digital assets by inducing users to connect their wallets or confirm malicious transactions. It is worth noting that this is not an isolated incident. Last month, the DeFi News protocol Maple Finance also experienced a similar fake interface attack, indicating that attackers are carrying out organized phishing campaigns targeting mainstream DeFi News platforms.
In response to such security threats, industry experts point out that there are already solutions at the technical level. For example, automatically generating secure user interfaces through smart contracts and deploying tamper-proof front-end verification tools can significantly reduce the risk of users accidentally accessing phishing sites. Previously, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also publicly advocated for raising the security standards of smart contract interfaces, emphasizing the importance of preventing user-side fraud from the source.
It is recommended that all DeFi News users carefully verify the website address before operating, avoid accessing protocol interfaces through third-party links, and prioritize using official applications or verified wallet plugins for interaction.
