As global markets face pressure from geopolitical tensions, ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, has taken the opportunity to increase its stakes in several publicly traded companies closely tied to the crypto ecosystem. According to trading records from Tuesday, ARK's various ETFs collectively purchased 22,452 shares of Coinbase, valued at approximately $4.1 million, while also acquiring 158,587 shares of Robinhood Markets, with a total transaction size of around $12 million.
This increase in holdings is part of a structural adjustment within ARK's fund portfolio. In addition to crypto-related assets, ARK has also simultaneously increased its positions in companies such as Roblox, Shopify, Amazon, DraftKings, CoreWeave, Genius Sports, BioNTech, and Eli Lilly, while reducing its stakes in Roku, Baidu, TSMC, Nextdoor, PagerDuty, and some healthcare assets. This reflects its ongoing investment logic focused on high-growth technology and innovation sectors.
Notably, despite Coinbase reporting a net loss of $667 million in the fourth quarter of last year, with revenue declining 21.5% year-over-year to $1.78 billion, primarily due to a drop in trading income, its subscription and services revenue still showed moderate growth. This indicates that the business structure is gradually shifting towards diversification. During this period of low market sentiment, ARK's actions may reflect its strong confidence in the long-term value of crypto infrastructure.
