Bolt and FRSC Partner to Enhance Safe Driving Awareness for Ride-Hailing Drivers

Bolt partnered with Nigeria's FRSC to conduct driver safety training, focusing on fatigue and drunk driving prevention, enhancing road safety awareness, and promoting safety upgrades in the ride-hailing industry through education and collaboration.

Bolt, in collaboration with the Nigerian Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), recently held a road safety awareness training event for ride-hailing drivers and delivery personnel, attracting over a hundred participants. The event was led by experts from the FRSC and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, focusing on in-depth explanations of key issues such as fatigue driving prevention, defensive driving techniques, traffic law compliance, and the dangers of driving under the influence.

Participating drivers systematically learned about speed limits, seat belt usage, overtaking regulations, and daily safe driving guidelines. They also had the opportunity to directly consult law enforcement officers on operational challenges through interactive Q&A sessions. The training particularly emphasized that adequate rest after long periods of driving is crucial for ensuring road safety, encouraging drivers to proactively avoid the effects of fatigue and alcohol, and to create a safer travel environment for passengers and the public.

Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Bolt's Head of Regulatory and Policy for Africa, stated: "Safety is not just a technical issue, but the cornerstone of platform operations. Our collaboration with the FRSC allows us to directly convey practical traffic knowledge to every driver, helping them make more informed decisions in complex road conditions. Our vision is for every passenger and driver to have full confidence in the platform, jointly promoting safer and more orderly urban transportation."

The event also cited data from Bolt's "Safety Awareness Survey" released last year: as many as two-thirds of respondents believed that ride-hailing services effectively reduced drunk driving, providing a reliable alternative travel option for the public. This collaboration is a deepening of this positive impact, strengthening drivers' sense of responsibility through education, and extending safety benefits to all road users.

Both parties agreed that the collaboration between regulatory agencies and technology-driven mobility platforms can effectively integrate educational resources and improve behavioral norms, which is an important path to improving road safety. Bolt stated that it will continue to cooperate with the government, industry partners, and driver communities to promote the implementation of more safety initiatives, helping Nigeria build a safer transportation ecosystem.
