Sentinel Action Fund Commits $8 Million to Support Ohio Senate Candidate Jon Husted

Sentinel Action Fund has pledged $8 million to Ohio Senate candidate Jon Husted, aiming to solidify the influence of digital assets in Washington. This initiative marks the cryptocurrency industry's proactive positioning for future elections.

Millions in funding from cryptocurrency-related donors will significantly impact the 2026 Ohio Senate campaign, as the Sentinel Action Fund has pledged $8 million in support of Republican Senator Jon Husted. This move indicates that the digital asset industry is striving to solidify its influence in Washington, especially following major changes in the 2024 election cycle.

Husted, a staunch advocate for blockchain technology, has established a reputation as a "strong supporter of cryptocurrency" by backing the GENIUS Act and calling for a regulatory framework that fosters innovation.

“Husted stated that digital asset technology represents the next wave of economic opportunity for working families, advocating for a federal approach that encourages domestic growth rather than restrictive regulation.

The Expanding Financial Coalition

The action committee has also garnered support from traditional Wall Street titans, including Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman and Fisher Investments Chairman Kenneth Fisher. This blend of Silicon Valley capital with traditional finance sharply contrasts Husted with his predecessor Sherrod Brown, who is losing his seat in 2024 after frequently questioning the industry, focusing primarily on issues of sanctions evasion and illicit finance.

“[Brown] has set up barriers to innovative policies in digital assets,” said Jessica Anderson, chair of the Sentinel Action Fund, asserting that Husted is the candidate needed to correct this legislative direction.

Strategic Expansion for the 2026 Midterms

Husted is the third candidate to receive formal support from Sentinel this cycle, following Maine Senator Susan Collins and Michigan's Mike Rogers.

This surge in spending follows a blueprint set by Fairshake, a large super PAC backed by Coinbase and a16z, which spent $12 million in the last election to help Republican Bernie Moreno defeat Brown. This level of early-cycle spending indicates that the intersection of digital finance and federal policy will remain a major battleground in the foreseeable future.
