Zhao emphasized that he is facing only one charge, with no money laundering, no fraud, and no victims. He pointed out that in U.S. history, no one has gone to prison solely for this charge.
Unexpected Trump Pardon
“I have no idea about the timing; it's a black box process. You submit a petition and can only wait for changes,” CZ said.
Zhao also denied claims that he paid for the pardon, telling Fox Business that he has no business, investment, or equity relationship with Trump or his family.
This pardon has drawn strong opposition from congressional members, who questioned Trump's reasoning and pointed out potential conflicts of interest. Trump stated in November that he does not know Zhao but sees him as another “victim” of the previous administration's “weaponization.”
