In the 2026 annual hot wallet rankings released by CoinGecko, Trust Wallet takes the top spot, followed closely by MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom, Exodus, Blockchain.com, and Atomic Wallet. This list reflects the current level of cryptocurrency adoption and the shifting balance between the EVM and Solana ecosystems.
Trust Wallet's first-place position aligns with its status as the most downloaded mobile crypto wallet globally, boasting over 140 million users and supporting more than 100 blockchains.

Yesterday, Trust Wallet launched an address poisoning protection feature, adding an important layer of security to its product. The wallet has traditionally attracted users through extensive chain support rather than any single feature.
MetaMask ranks second and has been a leading browser extension wallet for Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains since the DeFi News Summer of 2020. Its integration with Mastercard's self-custody spending program allows users to spend directly from MetaMask without preloading funds, representing the most significant product expansion for the wallet in recent years.

Phantom ranks fourth, making it the most notable entry on the list. As the native wallet of Solana, its presence in any global top five reflects the growth of Solana's ecosystem as a retail destination. Phantom plans to expand to Ethereum and Bitcoin support in 2024, but its user base primarily consists of Solana users.
Exodus ranks fifth, while Atomic Wallet comes in seventh, representing the multi-chain desktop wallet category that caters to users prioritizing asset breadth and self-custody over ecosystem-specific features.
