Blockchain payment firm Ripple recently announced plans to acquire BC Payments Australia Pty Ltd. to obtain an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL), accelerating its business growth in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC). According to the announcement, if the acquisition, which is not yet finalized, proceeds smoothly, Ripple will be able to fully offer its Ripple Payments infrastructure in Australia. This will enable the company to provide services such as customer registration, compliance, funding, currency trading, liquidity management, and payment distribution through a single integration.

Companies currently using Ripple Payments in Australia include Hai Ha Money Transfer, Stables, Caleb & Brown, Flash Payments, and Independent Reserve. Fiona Murray, Ripple's APAC Managing Director, stated that Australia is a strategic market for the company, and the AFSL license will help expand the scale of Ripple Payments services in the region. Data released by the company shows that payment volumes in the Asia-Pacific region nearly doubled in 2025. While Ripple did not share exact figures, it noted that this growth is consistent with its announcement last week that total transaction volume reached $100 billion. The company also announced that it has launched custody, virtual account collection, and stablecoin settlement services in 60 different markets.

Fiona Murray emphasized that licensing is an important part of Ripple's global strategy, "Through blockchain technology and digital assets, we can help customers transfer value faster, more transparently, and more reliably around the world. We are focused on working closely with regulators to support the next phase of digital asset infrastructure growth."
