Stablecoin Donations Surge as Crypto Charity Moves Toward Institutionalization

Stablecoin donations exploded in 2025 as crypto charity shifts from niche to mainstream, fueled by the GENIUS Act and renewed regulatory focus on yield rules.

According to a report from crypto gifting platform The Giving Block, charitable donations completed via stablecoins surged in 2025, dwarfing prior years. The report notes that stablecoins are no longer a marginal tool in crypto philanthropy but have become one of the fastest-growing donation channels.

“Even in downturns, donors still prefer to give with stablecoins, helping nonprofits avoid crypto price swings while speeding up fund settlement,” Givepact said. With the GENIUS Act now in force, stablecoins’ legal status has gained federal recognition, and institutional investors along with charitable organizations are increasingly confident in them, propelling stablecoins toward mainstream adoption.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Congress is debating a market structure bill aimed at building a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets. The legality and oversight boundaries of stablecoin yields have triggered heated debate. Although the Senate Banking Committee delayed its review of the bill in January, the White House has already held three dedicated meetings with industry stakeholders to explore how to regulate stablecoin interest payments, balancing innovation incentives with financial stability.

2025 saw a dramatic rise in stablecoin giving, signaling that crypto philanthropy is moving from the periphery to the mainstream. With the GENIUS Act implemented and regulatory discussions heating up, stablecoins are winning favor among nonprofits due to their volatility resistance and newfound legal clarity.
